395 Farms is a winter wheat farm located just outside Connell, Washington. The farm traces its legacy back to the late 1800's, when farmers first settled the arid shrub-steppe landscape that predominates northern Franklin County. To this day, we follow the same time-tested, sustainable farming methods, relying on rainfall and diligent soil conservation practices to produce high-quality grain while maintaining a small environmental footprint.
The name "395 Farms" pays homage to US Route 395, the highway that marks the boundary between the irrigated farms of the Columbia Basin project and the dryland wheat country to the east. Today the farm manages ~11,000 acres of land that is primarily owned by descendants of the families that originally settled the area.
395 Farms is owned and managed by Brian and Eric Hart - who grew up on the original Hart family farmstead that today anchors 395's farming operations. Farming operations are led by Terry Utecht and James Ferguson, with over fifty years of combined farming experience in the area.
